Week 4 (w/c 27.04.20)

29.04.20

Hi there Eagles,

I hope you are getting on well with this week's learning. I've heard from a few children that they are struggling with the Can Do Maths converting fractions, decimals and percentages work. Don't panic if you found it tricky. Learning at home is not the same as learning in school, it is more difficult. Remember, you can always email me and ask for help - I'm still here for that :-)

Below are two links to websites that will help you to revise fractions and how to convert them. It might help you to look at these before you have a go at the work or if you get stuck.

I hope you are enjoying reading the Tempest! It's a long play so don't think you have to read it all at once. Watch the videos too, as they will help you to remember what is going on!

The cold and rainy weather means it might be harder for you to get outside, and feel a bit miserable. I am using this as an opportunity to do some DEAR. I've got my YouTube fire roaring, a cup of hot chocolate and a pile of my favourite books. I'm re-reading the Hunger Games, one of my favourites, to cheer me up! I'm missing all your book recommendations so please let me know what you're reading and if you've got a new book you think I'll like :-)      Last week I read The Girl Who Stole An Elephant by Nizrana Farook and A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. They are very different but both really interesting books, I'd highly recommend both of them.

Take care and keep reading!

Hi Eagles,

Here we are, at the start of the fourth week of home learning. First of all - well done! I know it's not been easy  without your teacher or your friends. It takes organisation, determination and focus to be able to learn from home, and these are important life skills for you to develop.

It's been great to hear that you have been using technology to stay connected with your friends. I think it is a good idea to keep chatting with people, to help keep your spirits up. I've been taking part in weekly quizzes with some of my friends, which have been great fun! I even won one of them... I'm sure you can guess what the topic was!

It's important to make sure you're getting fresh air too. Being outside helps relax us and can be a great way to take our mind off things that may be stressful. I have enjoyed reading in my garden, and have found that going for bike rides or walks in the park have cheered me up!

Please remember that although we aren't together, I am still here to support you. My school email is for you and your parents to contact me if you need anything, and if you would like to speak to me, I can arrange a phone call to you at home - just let me know.

Well done to those of you who have got the hang of My Maths. I can see that some children have not used it yet, which means you are going to have two weeks of work to complete! Some of you have completed some the questions but not finished. Make sure you answer all the questions and save your work before moving on.  Get in touch with me if you need support with it.

For those of you who like to read First News, here is a link to their website where they are offering a free download of the newspaper. There are also lots of other articles, videos and activities on the website to keep you busy!

Enjoy your week and take care of each other!

I know you're all doing your best, and I'm proud of you! I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Miss Davies :-)
