Owls have had a wonderful first week at school. They have all settled in well and really enjoyed playing in the classroom.
Friday 27th September 2019
This week Owls have learnt the sound s and the words I, no, go and the. We have even written some of the words!Owls were very lucky to have a visit from Hazel's Mummy and her baby brother. We asked lots of questions to find out about babies. Owls have been singing number songs everyday. They particularly love 5 little men in a flying saucer!
Friday 4th October
This week owls have learnt the sounds a, t, p, i. We have started to talk like a robot to help us with our blending skills. Owls have enjoyed learning about the number 4. We made our own Numberblocks and made groups of 4.
Friday 11th October
During our number sessions Owls investigated number 5. In phonics we learnt the sounds n, m, d. Owls even started to segment and blend with their phoneme fingers! Well done Owls!
Friday 18th October
This week owls have learnt the sounds g, o, c, and k. We have played word games and are starting to recognise some of our tricky words. We have been finding different ways to sort in our maths sessions. Owls loved printing with different fruit and creating pictures.
Friday 8th November
Owls have learnt the sounds ck, e, u and r. We have written some of the tricky words.
In maths, Owls have been using the language of fewer than, more than and equal to compare different groups. Owls have sorted materials into groups and described how they felt using adjectives.
Friday 15th November
This week Owls have learnt the sounds h, b, f, ff and l. We have tried hard to write sentences that have been read to us.
Owls have loved playing the game 'around the world' to learn how to find a number that is one less than a number up to 10.
Friday 24th January
This week owls have enjoyed learning about Chinese new year. We have been drawing and painting Chinese symbols.
In maths we have been learning our number bonds to 10 and owls have loved playing hit the button.
Owls have loved drawing their new digraphs in squishy paint bags. We have learnt the new sounds oa, or, igh and ai.
Friday 31st January
In phonics this week Owls have learnt the sounds ow, oi, ear and er. We have been playing games with the words you, this and that.
Owls have been adding two numbers together up to 10. They have even written their own number sentences in our free maths session!
We have all enjoyed finding out lots of facts about hedgehogs and have even made a hedgehog house!
