Spring Term 

Week ending Friday 8th March

This week has been Book Week at By Brook Valley. We have been hearing different versions of our class story this term 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. Different teachers have been coming to visit to read us their favourite stories. Today we made story maps of Jack and the Beanstalk and made book marks to take home.  

Week ending Friday 1st March

This week we have planted some pea, bean and beetroot seeds and we are going to look after them and watch them grow.

In maths we have been estimating how many beans were in a jar.

 

 

Autumn Term 2

Week ending Friday 23rd  November       

This week we have been revising some of the sounds we have covered so far: i, j, l and t and practising writing them in our school way.

We have also revising reading these words: the, not, into, get, got.

In maths we have been writing the number 8 and find different ways of making 8 for example 7+1, 5+3, 2+2+2+2

 

 

Week ending  16th November        

 

This week we have been finding out which sounds we know so far we have  learnt;

s, a, t, p, i, n, c, k, ck, e, h, r, m, d, g, o, u, l, f, ff and b.   

We have also been checking what words we can read on sight;

I , no, go, to, and, the, on, not,into, get, got.

Our number of the week this week is 7. We have been learning to recognise this number and learning how to write it. We have also been finding different ways of making 7;  for example  6+1, 4+3, 2+2+2+1

Week ending 9th Novemer 2018

 This week been learning some new letter sounds h, b, f, ff and l

We have also been learning to recognise the tricky words get, got, not, on, and, the. 

Our number of the week this week is 6. We have been learning to regnise this number and learning how to write it. We have been finding different ways of making 6 like 3+3 and 1+1+1+1+1+1.

We went on a welly walk and learnt how to read and follow a  simple map!

AutumnTerm 1

Week ending 19th October      

This week been learning some new letter sounds ck, e, u, r.

We have also been learning to recognise the tricky words and, on, not, into. 

Our number of the week this week is 4We have been learning to regnise this number and learning how to write it. We have been finding different ways of making 4 like 3+1 and 1+1+1+1+1

We went on a Welly Walk to look for signs of Autumn. We collected lots of Autumn leaves and seeds. 

 

 

Wk ending 12th October

 

This week been learning some new letter sounds g. o, c and k. We have also been learning to recognise the tricky words and, not, and  and into. 

Our number of the week this week is 3We have been learning to regnise this number and learning how to write it. We have also been matching Numicon to numbers ( you can find out more about numicon on our home learning page) . Please look out for number 3  when you are out and about. We have also been learning to recognise our teen numbers ( 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19) 

We went on a Welly Walk in the rain on Friday with Mrs Stevens and had lots of fun splashing in all the puddles!! 

Wk ending 5th October

This week we have been busy preparing to perform in our first ever Harvest celebration. On Monday we had a practise walk to the church and sang our Dinge Dangle Scarecrow Song. We hope you enjoyed our performance on Wednesday.

We have also been learning some new letter sounds n, l, m and d. We have also been learning to recognise the tricky words to, into and the. 

Our number of the week this week is 2We have been learning to recognise this number and learning how to write it. We have also been matching Numicon to numbers ( you can find out more about numicon on our home learning page) . Please look out for number 2  when you are out and about on house doors and in shops! 

Wk ending 28th September

This week we have been very busy we have learned the new phonic sounds for s a t p and i . We have also learnt to recognise the tricky words I no and go.

Our number of the week this week is 1. We have been learning to regnise this number and learning how to write it. 

We have also been finding out about recycling. We went on our first Welly Walk to explore our school and we thought about how our school is different to schools in other countries. You can see some photos of our walk below!
