summer 1, week 4
A bright and busy week!
This week we thoroughly enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The children loved talking about their favourite parts of the story and worked hard to describe them using some brilliant adjectives.
In maths, we explored shapes in lots of exciting ways. We rotated, manipulated and described different shape pictures, learning new vocabularly along the way. Then, we got hands-on and used Numicon to create our very own shape number pictures.
In art, we were inspired by the famous artist Vincent van Gogh. We looked closely at the brushstrokes and talked about the colours and textures he used. The children then created their own beautiful Sunflowers paintings, using thick paint.
In phonics, our focus sound was tch. The Owls worked hard to build and read lots of tech words like witch, match and hatch.
Well done to our stars of the week, Raife and Ronnie! We are so proud of you!
Have a lovely weekend
