summer 2, week 1

On Tuesday, we discovered a crime scene in our classroom! There was porridge everywhere, a broken chair, a smashed bowl, and a spoon on the floor – oh dear! The Owls turned into clever little detectives and searched high and low for clues. After some great investigating and discussions, we identified the culprit… it was Goldilocks! The children were brilliant at spotting evidence and explaining their thinking. We even went on a welly walk to look for more Goldilocks clues in the school grounds and used what we found to help us retell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

In Literacy, we took inspiration from the beautiful picture book The Journey. The children used their imaginations to write their own stories, thinking carefully about characters, settings, and what might happen next. They showed such creativity and confidence in their writing – we were very proud!

In Maths, we have been learning all about sharing and grouping. The children practised sharing items equally between groups and counted how many groups or items there were. We had some great conversations about fairness and made sure everything was shared out properly.

In RE, we talked about special places. The children shared their own experiences and thoughts, and we looked at different types of homes from around the world. It was a lovely way to explore what makes a place feel special and unique.

A very special moment this week was when we released our butterflies into the wild! After carefully watching them grow from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies, the children were full of wonder as they gently flew away. It was a magical experience and a lovely way to end our learning about life cycles.

Well done to our star of the week, Talia! You have worked so hard in Sounds Write!
