Term 1, Week 1! 05.09.25

What a wonderful first week back for our new Kestrels!
We are absolutely delighted with how our Year 2 children have settled back into school life this week. From the moment they walked through the gates, they’ve shown such enthusiasm, kindness, and curiosity — it’s clear they’re ready for a fantastic year ahead!
In whole school worship, class worship and house parliament, we have discussed and thought about our school vision and listened to the Parable of the sower, reflecting on the right ‘soil’ to help us grow.
We also thought about what we want to achieve by the end of year two.
In Maths, we have been looking at two-digit numbers and recognising 10s and 1s. We have used base 10 and place value charts to help us build our numbers.
We have loved finding out what our key questions are for units this term. The children are very excited to find out more about The Great Fire of London in history and 'What are things made from and why?' in science.
Star of the Week is….
Elara! For sharing a brilliant explanation in maths about 10s and 1s.
Reminders:
- PE days for Term 1 are Wednesday (gymnastics) and Thursday (team games).
- Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.

Have a wonderful weekend!
