Autumn 1, week 3

In maths, the Owls have been learning all about numbers 1–5. We practised putting the numbers in order and explored lots of different ways to represent them – from counting objects to using our fingers and drawing pictures.

In literacy, we thought carefully about our families. We shared who is in our family and enjoyed reading Welcome to Our World, which helped us see how families can be the same and different all around the globe. The children worked hard to draw pictures of their own families and some Owls even represented the initial sounds in their writing – well done!

We also had lots of creative fun this week. The Owls loved experimenting with potato printing, making colourful pictures and patterns.

On our welly walk, we explored the school field and used all our senses to investigate the apple orchard. The children enjoyed smelling, touching, and looking closely at the apples on the trees. Best of all, each Owl picked an apple to take back for snack – they tasted delicious!

Finally, a big congratulations to our Star of the Week: Yohan, for trying so hard in our Sounds-Write sessions. We are so proud of your efforts!

Have a lovely weekend
