Week 3

Weekly Class Update

We have had another busy and productive week in class, with the children continuing to show great enthusiasm and focus in their learning

Reminders

  • Please continue to read with your child five times a week and record this in their reading record.

  • For swimming lessons, please ensure children bring swimming goggles and a swim hat.

  • For Forest School, children should have a spare change of shoes.

Here’s What We’ve Been Learning This Week

Maths
In maths, the children have been learning how to multiply and divide by 10 and 100. We used place value charts to support our understanding, focusing on how digits move to the left and right depending on the operation.

English
In English, the children focused on using third person in a non-chronological report. They practised writing complex sentences using the subordinating conjunction because, before applying all of their learning to write a paragraph about the digestive system.

Science
We explored the different types of teeth, their functions, and how to look after them properly. The children were keen to share their knowledge and asked thoughtful questions throughout the lesson.

Religious Education
In RE, we learnt about the festival of Passover and how it is celebrated within Judaism. The children explored what Passover represents, what a Seder plate is, and why it is an important part of Jewish faith and tradition.

PSHE
In PSHE, we looked at friendship groups and the different structures within them. The children discussed ways to resolve conflict and how to maintain positive and respectful relationships.

Computing
In computing, we focused on online safety, learning how to keep personal information safe when using the internet.

Times Table Rock Stars
We are continuing to practise our times tables using Times Table Rock Stars. The children have been thoroughly enjoying this, and it has been lovely to see a clear improvement in the speed and accuracy of their recall.

Thank you for your continued support at home. The children have worked extremely hard this week, and we are very proud of their efforts.
