Week 4

26th - 30th January

Reminders

  • Please continue to read with your child five times a week and record this in their reading record.

  • For swimming lessons, please ensure children bring swimming goggles and a swim hat.

Here’s What We’ve Been Learning This Week

English
In English, the children explored a non-chronological report about Florida’s physical features. They practised retrieving information from the text and answering comprehension questions, building their understanding of both the content and the structure of report writing. We also looked at what actually is a paragraph and had a go at constructing some.

Maths
In maths, we focused on using multiplication facts we already know to help solve larger multiplication calculations. This supported the children in developing efficient strategies and strengthening their number fluency.

Science
In science, we learnt about food chains, identifying producers, primary consumers, and predators. The children enjoyed applying this vocabulary to different examples.

Religious Education
In RE, we revisited and discussed the story of Moses. We will continue this learning next week as we explore why these stories are important to Jewish people.

Geography
In geography, we looked more closely at the climate of Florida, learning about its tropical and subtropical climate and considering how this affects the environment and daily life.

Forest School
This week marked our final Forest School session, where the children created art from natural materials. It was a lovely way to celebrate their creativity and teamwork outdoors.

Class Assembly
Hawks have been working incredibly hard on their class assembly, practising every day. We hope you enjoyed watching it as much as the children enjoyed performing it.
