Term 3, Week 6! 13.02.26

This week we took part in Safer Internet Day, where our focus was on Artificial Intelligence (AI). We explored what AI is and talked about voice assistants such as Alexa and Siri. The children were brilliant at discussing how these tools can be helpful but also why it’s important to use them safely and responsibly. We also recapped the importance of always talking to a trusted adult if something worries or upsets us.

For Children’s Mental Health Week, we explored this year’s theme of Belonging. We had some lovely discussions about what makes us feel safe, welcome and valued. The children created beautiful “This Is My Space” artwork, thinking carefully about places where they feel calm and happy. It was wonderful to see how thoughtfully they expressed themselves. We also took part in a live lesson with Picture News, where we joined other schools to reflect on the importance of belonging and feeling connected. The children represented our class beautifully!

In Maths, we finished our unit on fractions by focusing on three-quarters. The children practised recognising three-quarters, finding three-quarters of shapes and finding three-quarters of amounts. They worked incredibly hard and showed great growing confidence when explaining their reasoning.

We created our own seascapes inspired by Money in art this week. They used their skills learnt throughout the term with paint and watercolours to blend blues, greens and whites to create texture and depth. The results are wonderful and the children are very proud of their artwork.

Star of the week:

Arthur for brilliant science work answering the big question.
