Term 4, Week 2! 06.03.26

We love World Book Week at By Brook Valley!

We have had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day all week in year 2! The children have enjoyed lots of different book-themed activities and it has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm for reading.

A big thank you to all of our surprise readers who came in during the week. The children absolutely loved having different adults visit the classroom to share their favourite stories.

Well done to everyone who created a “Book in a Box” at home – they look amazing and it was lovely for the children to share them with the class. They look brilliant displayed down the corridor in school too.

We also had lots of fun decorating our classroom door as a book. Our class chose The Day the Crayons Quit, and the children did a brilliant job bringing it to life. We also really enjoyed walking around school to look at the other classroom doors and guessing which books they represented!

Thank you to the adults who joined us for our Linger and Learn session today. Together we created our own blurbs by looking carefully at clues on the front covers of books. The children loved sharing their ideas and predictions.

It has been a fantastic week celebrating the joy of reading – well done Year 2!

Star of the Week:

Ned! For great confidence and enthusiasm with his reading and ALWAYS reading at home!

Reminders:

  • PE days for Term 4 are Wednesday (netball) and Thursday (dribbling, kicking and hitting).
  • Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.
  • Spellings will come home on Monday. Please practice these every day at home ready for our spelling test on Fridays.
  • Practice your times tables on TTRockstars using the login stuck in your reading record.

Have a wonderful weekend!
