ST2 - Week 4

Here’s What We’ve Been Learning This Week
English
In English, the children learnt about the power of three and revisited fronted adverbials. They then completed a slow write describing a storm, carefully including personification, expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and the power of three to create detailed and engaging writing.
Maths
In maths, we finished our multiplication and division unit, focusing on how to divide three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. The children showed great perseverance when tackling these more challenging calculations.
Computing
In computing, we visited a new aspect of internet safety, focusing on online consent, privacy policies and user agreements. We discussed the importance of checking with a trusted adult before accepting or agreeing to anything online.
French
In French, the children continued learning vocabulary related to items found in a school bag. They became “French detectives,” using their knowledge to build simple sentences.
Art
In art, the children completed their final landscape pieces, reimagining By Brook Valley using bright colours inspired by the style of Georgia O'Keeffe. They used different shades to add depth and detail to their paintings.
R & W
This week, we visited the church for an Easter Experience, where the children explored the meaning of Easter. This linked beautifully to our topic of forgiveness and helped deepen their understanding.
Music
In music, we started a new unit and learnt how to sing in a round. The children quickly picked up the dynamics, pitch and tempo of the song and worked incredibly hard to perform it successfully together.
