Spring Term 2 Week 5
Longleat, investigations and challah bread!
What a fantastic final week we have had in Year 1 before the Easter holidays!
We were so excited to go on our school trip to Longleat, where we took part in an amazing workshop all about amazing animals. The children were incredibly brave. We even got to hold a cockroach! Miss Hamilton was very brave too and held a friendly tarantula, and everyone had the chance to hold a ginormous snake. What an experience!
We also loved exploring the park. Some of our favourite animals were the koalas, crocodiles, parrots, and meerkats. It was a day full of excitement and discovery!
Back in the classroom, we became scientists in our investigation. We explored the question: Do children with bigger feet need bigger gloves? The children worked brilliantly in partners, measuring each other’s hands and feet. We discovered that even if someone had bigger feet, their hands were not always bigger too. What a surprising result!
In RE, we have been learning about the Jewish religion and how people celebrate Shabbat. To help us understand this special time, we made our own challah bread. The children worked together to mix, knead, and plait two loaves. We were very proud of our baking – and even better, it was delicious!
We have had such a wonderful week full of learning, teamwork, and fun.
We hope you all have a lovely Easter break, and we look forward to seeing you when you are back!
