Term 5, Week 1! 17.04.26
Welcome back!
In English, we have been exploring the story “The Queen’s Hat.” The children really enjoyed bringing the story to life by creating their own story maps and acting it out together. We also focused on developing our descriptive writing by creating expanded noun phrases, using illustrations from the book to inspire our ideas.
In Maths, we have been learning all about measurement. The children have been measuring in centimetres and metres, as well as comparing and ordering different lengths. They’ve done a fantastic job using practical resources to support their understanding.
Our new History topic begun this week all about Queen Elizabeth II. We explored what a monarch is, what their role involves, and discussed who our current monarch is. The children showed great curiosity and asked some thoughtful questions.
In DT, we started preparing for next week’s food-making activity. The children tasted a variety of ingredient combinations to decide on the filling for their wraps. They then planned their own wraps, making sure to include a balanced selection of protein, fruit or vegetables, and dairy. We’re looking forward to making them next week!
We have been organising our class assembly and are looking forward to showing you all next week!
