Summer Term 1 Week 2
Smoothie Making and Forest School!
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Falcons!
In Maths, we have been learning all about capacity and volume. We explored different containers and used words like full and empty to describe them. We also compared containers to work out which could hold the most and the least amount of water—there were some great predictions and discussions!

In English, we enjoyed working on The Queen’s Hat. We created our own story maps to help us remember the journey of the hat, and we also learned about onomatopoeias (words that sound like what they describe). The children had lots of fun writing sentences using words like whoosh, bang, and roar!
In DT, the children were very excited to finally make the smoothies they have been planning. First, we carefully chopped up our fruit, then each table created a different flavour smoothie. Everyone had the chance to taste them all, and we finished by voting for our favourite—what a delicious activity!

During Forest School, we got creative by making pictures using natural materials. The children worked brilliantly as a team, collecting items from our outdoor area and arranging them to create some wonderful artwork.

This week we celebrated World Earth Day! We discussed what the problems are in the world and came up with ways that we could help. The children wrote these on leaves that will be displayed in the school corridor.

In History, we learned about the Royal Family tree. We then talked about our own families and drew them as if they were royal—there were some very imaginative and regal portraits!
Thank you for another great week, Falcons. Enjoy the sunshine and have a lovely weekend!
