Summer 1, week 2

This week in Reception, we had a wonderful time exploring and learning together.

We began the week by planting cress seeds. The children made thoughtful predictions about what might happen as the seeds grow, and we talked about what plants need to stay healthy. We also learnt a fun song all about how plants grow, which the children really enjoyed singing together.

In Maths, we have been practising counting beyond 20 and exploring the patterns we can see in numbers. The children are becoming more confident in recognising how numbers grow and spotting repeating patterns.

During RE, we listened to the story Odd Dog and had a discussion about what it means to be different. The children shared their ideas about why being unique is special and talked about how we can be kind and accepting of others.

On our welly walk, we collected natural materials such as sticks, leaves and bark. We used these to create bug hotels in small groups, thinking carefully about what insects might like in their homes. The children showed great teamwork and creativity.

Have a lovely weekend!
