Summer 1, week 5
This week in Drawing Club, we read the wonderful story The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We learnt some exciting new vocabulary including metamorphosis, life cycle, minibeast, chrysalis and symmetry. The children loved talking about how caterpillars change and grow into beautiful butterflies.
In Maths, we have been composing and decomposing shapes. We read the story Perfect Square and discovered that one square can be turned into many different shapes and pictures. The children used their imagination brilliantly to create their own designs.
In RE, we listened to the story Bilal and the Beautiful Butterfly. We had some thoughtful discussions about what we would do if a butterfly spoke to us.
We also loved our Forest School session this week when we made bug hotels for minibeasts to explore and live in. The children worked together carefully using natural materials from the outdoor area.
Owls class really enjoyed Flip It Friday too! We had so much fun looking at all the crazy hairstyles and tasting the sweet snacks. Thank you for all the effort that went into making the day so special.
Have a lovely weekend
