Summer Term 2 - Week 1
Reminders
- Please continue to read 5 times a week and record this in your child's reading record.
- Please encourage your child to practise Times Table Rock Stars every day. Regular practice is making a huge difference to their fluency and confidence with multiplication facts.
Here’s What We’ve Been Learning This Week
English
We have started our whole-school hot write. The children are focusing on using strong imagery to set the scene at the beginning of a story, carefully choosing vocabulary and descriptive techniques to engage the reader from the very first sentence.
Maths
In maths, we have continued our work on decimals. The children have been partitioning decimals into their place value columns, adding decimals together to make one, and exploring how fractions can be represented as decimals.
Religion and World-views (R & W)
We have started a new unit with the big question: "When Jesus left, what was the impact of Pentecost?" The children have begun exploring the events following Jesus' ascension and why Pentecost is such an important event for Christians.
Music
In music, we have begun a new topic on Samba music, focusing on Samba Batucada. The children explored the different instruments used within this style of music and listened carefully to identify the dynamics, texture and tempo of the pieces.
Science
In science, we looked at the water cycle through a scientific lens, linking it to our learning about states of matter. The children explored how water changes between solid, liquid and gas during different stages of the water cycle and what causes these changes to occur.
Well done on a fantastic first week back Hawks!
