ST2 - Week 2

A massive well done to all of Year 4 who completed their Multiplication Tables Check on Thursday. We have been incredibly impressed with the children's attitude towards improving their times table knowledge and the effort they have put into learning their multiplication facts. They should all be very proud of themselves!

Here's What We've Been Learning This Week

English
This week, we planned and wrote the opening of a narrative based on the trailer for The Wild Robot. The children focused on setting the scene effectively, using expanded noun phrases with prepositions, modifying adjectives, fronted adverbials, and direct speech to engage the reader and establish the setting and characters.

Maths
In maths, we continued our work on money. The children learnt how to round amounts to the nearest pound and nearest multiple of 10p by looking carefully at the decimal places. We also practised column addition with decimals and calculated the total cost of different items.

Science
We carried out our science investigation into evaporation and condensation, exploring which factors might cause these processes to happen more quickly. The children collected results, made observations and were excited to see evaporation taking place before their eyes!

Religion and Worldviews (R & W)
In RE, we focused on the impact of Pentecost, exploring why it is celebrated as the birth of Christianity and the important role of the Holy Spirit in this event.

Computing
The children used Scratch to programme a sprite to move. They adapted pre-built code, learning how to debug problems and improve the movement of their sprite through careful editing.

Physical Education (P.E.)
This week, we practised races and events for Sports Day. The children showed great enthusiasm and teamwork, and everyone is feeling ready and excited for next Wednesday!

History
In history, we learnt about the story of the Twelfth Night. The children explored the story through drama and role play before creating their own comic strips to retell the events.
