Summer Term 2 - Wk 4

Well, this week has certainly been a little different! With the exceptionally warm weather, we have adapted our timetable to keep the children safe and comfortable.

English
We began our new Iron Man writing unit by planning what the Iron Man is like as a character. The children thought carefully about his appearance, actions and personality, gathering ideas ready to write a detailed character description later this week.

Maths
In maths, we started our new geometry unit. The children explored angles, triangles and quadrilaterals, learning to identify and describe their key properties.

Water Safety Visit
On Monday, we were visited by the RNLI, who delivered an engaging and informative water safety session. The children learnt how to stay safe around water, how to recognise potential dangers, and what to do if they ever find themselves or someone else in difficulty. They were particularly interested in learning the 'Float to Live' message and understood the importance of staying calm and calling for help in an emergency.

RSHE
This week, we discussed the changes our bodies go through as we grow, including how puberty can affect both boys and girls. The children approached this topic with great maturity, asking thoughtful questions and listening respectfully throughout.

Music
In music, the children learnt the difference between clapping on the beat and off the beat, introducing them to the musical concept of syncopation. They explored how syncopated rhythms are used in Samba music and during carnival celebrations, practising these rhythms together with great enthusiasm.
