What a fantastic and action-packed week we have had in Year 2!

Our highlight this week was our exciting trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. The children had an amazing time exploring the beautiful surroundings, following the Gruffalo Trail and enjoying the new play areas. During our workshop, we became woodland explorers by carrying out a badger sett experiment, investigating how to keep our badgers warm enough. We also got creative by making our own baggarts using clay and natural materials we found around us. The children showed excellent teamwork, curiosity and creativity throughout the day.

The excitement continued the following day with Sports Day! We were incredibly lucky with the beautiful sunny weather, and the children gave every event their very best effort. We were so proud of the determination, resilience and fantastic sportsmanship they showed, cheering each other on and celebrating everyone's achievements.

In Maths, we have been revisiting subtraction, using Base 10 equipment to help us understand exchanging when solving more challenging calculations. The children have been working hard to explain their methods and build their confidence.

In History, we explored how the Commonwealth began and discussed how it has changed over the years, thinking about the countries that are part of it today and why it continues to be important.

We have been busy creating our wonderful recycled animal sculptures for Art Gallery Night. Using plastic bottles and a variety of recycled materials, the children have designed and made some fantastic creations. We are so excited for you all to see their hard work and creativity next week!

We have also loved watching Year 1 and Reception class assemblies this week! They did so well.

Reminders:

• PE this term is Wednesday and Thursday.
• Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.
• Spellings will come home on Monday. Please practice these every day at home ready for our spelling test on Fridays.
• Practice your times tables on TTRockstars using the login stuck in your reading record.
