In Maths, we have continued to explore the place value of two-digit numbers. We have been using Base 10 equipment and part-part-whole models to partition numbers into tens and ones. The children have enjoyed using practical resources to help them understand how numbers can be made up of different parts.

We have continued to use Up as inspiration for our English work. This week, we imagined what it would be like to travel through the sky in the house! We described how the house moved as it flew and thought carefully about what it might see from high up in the sky. We then imagined where the house might eventually land. The children drew pictures of their landing places and wrote descriptive sentences to explain what they could see. 

In Music, we have been learning about dynamics — how loud or quiet music can be. We had lots of fun using percussion instruments to create different safari animal noises! The children had to think carefully about how they could use dynamics to represent different animals. A large, stomping elephant might need very loud sounds, while a tiny animal might require something much quieter. There were some very imaginative animal performances!

Our Geography learning has focused on where our school is. We looked at different maps of Yatton Keynell and practised finding our school on them. We also explored the different symbols used on maps and discussed what they might represent. The children were fascinated to discover just how different maps can look and how some maps contain lots of detail, while others show only the most important information. It was wonderful to hear the children sharing their observations and noticing the differences between the maps.

We had an extra-special worship this week as our school was presented with the Silver Church School Partnership Award by the Bristol Diocese. This award recognises the wonderful work we do with other members of our school community, as well as the ways in which we support and help others who may be in need. We are incredibly proud to receive this award and of everything it represents about our school community.

To finish our week, we took part in an exciting live lesson with the British Library, where the wonderful Julia Donaldson shared her brand-new book, Gruffalo's Granny! The children were absolutely thrilled to hear from Julia and loved finding out more about her new story. It was a very special opportunity and a fantastic way to celebrate our love of books and reading.
