Autumn 1 week 5

It has been a great week in Ospreys!

In English, we have started our new topic of Poetry and will be writing poetry based on our class book 'The Firework Maker's Daughter'. This week we explored what poetry is, the different types of poems and what features they have.

In Maths, we have been learning how to complete a number line and how to estimate a number on a number line to 1000. We have been learning the skills of how to work out the intervals to complete a number line.

In Geography, we have been thinking about the land around us and how the use of the land has changed over the last two hundred years.

In Science this week we have been exploring magnets. Using magnets to investigate, we discovered how magnets can repel or attract each other. We learnt about the invisible magnetic field around a magnet and that the earth is one big magnet.

In Computing, we have been learning how digital devices can be used. This week we created artwork using an art application on Ipads. Children had to draw their own picture on paper and then try and replicate it on the Ipad. This was more tricky than they realised!

The children have been working hard preparing for the Harvest service on Thursday 8th October at 1.30pm at St Maragart's Church in Yatton Keynell. We look forward to sharing our work with you.

We are collecting food for the Food Bank for Harvest. We would be very grateful for any donations you can offer. There is a list of suitable items on the window in the classroom.

Please continue to practice spellings and TTRS at home and read 5 times each week.

Thank you for your continued support.

Miss Boddy :)
