Aurtumn Term 1 Week 6

Harvest Festival!

This week in Falcons, we loved exploring the story of Hansel and Gretel in Drawing Club. We have discovered new and exciting vocabulary, including ‘dawdle’ and ‘confectionery’, and enjoyed bringing the story to life through our ideas and imagination. We have also been practising writing the letter ‘e’ in handwriting and learning different ways to spell the /ae/ sound in phonics.

In maths, we have continued using part-part-whole models to help us write fact families and develop our understanding of number bonds to 10. We have been working hard to recognise the different ways we can make 10 and explain our thinking.

In Geography, we compared what our school looks like today with what it was like 100 years ago. We explored old maps of Yatton Keynell and discovered that our school is much bigger now! It was fascinating to see how our local area has changed over time.

In music we enjoyed listening to different types of music and finding the beat. The children clapped along and asked questions along with the beat, as well as following the pulse with their fingers.

A highlight of our week was performing at our Harvest Festival. We were so proud of the children and their fantastic performance, and it was wonderful to see so many families there to support us. Thank you to everyone who came along!

Have a lovely weekend!
