Term 1, Week 6! 09.10.26
In English, we have been busy writing our own versions of Beegu, using the aliens we created. We have been working hard to make our stories exciting and interesting by including expanded noun phrases, coordinating conjunctions and the past tense. We have loved using our imaginations to bring our own alien characters to life!
In Maths, we have been exploring number bonds to 100 and practising adding and subtracting 1s. We have been developing our confidence with numbers and thinking carefully about how numbers change when we add or subtract.
In Geography, we have been learning about how our school has changed over time. We looked at images of what Yatton Keynell School used to look like and compared them with what By Brook Valley looks like today. We then created lists of similarities and differences, thinking about what has changed and what has stayed the same. It was fascinating to discover more about the history of our school!
We loved visiting the church to celebrate our Harvest Festival. It was a special occasion, and we were so proud to take part. A huge thank you to all the adults who came to watch and support us, and to everyone who donated food for the foodbank. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and will make a real difference to those in our community who need a little extra support.
We also celebrated Hello Yellow Day, taking time to think about our feelings, kindness and how we can support one another. We explored some important messages:
- Your feelings matter.
- You can ask for help.
- You can help others feel included.
- Small acts of kindness make a big difference.
We discussed how important it is to talk about our feelings, ask for help when we need it and make sure everyone feels welcome and included. We also thought about the little things we can do every day to make someone smile. Thank you so much to everyone who donated through our JustGiving page to support YoungMinds, helping to raise awareness and support children's mental health. Your kindness and generosity are very much appreciated!
Star of the Week!
Lily-Rose for always being enthusiastic about her learning and sharing great ideas in class discussions.
Reminders:
- Your child should have come home with your parent's evening time yesterday. Please see me if they didn't.
- PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Please bring in reading books and reading records every day and read 5 times a week at home. Remember an adult needs to sign the reading records.
Have a wonderful weekend!
