Y4 - Week 1, AT1.

Year 4 blog

Hello everyone,

Reminders:

  • Please remember to read at home at least five times a week – every read makes a big difference!

  • Weekly spellings have been sent home and are stuck in your children’s reading records.

We’ve had another fantastic week in Year 4 and the children have been busy learning. Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been up to:

English – The children completed a cold write to show off their starting ideas, and we’ve begun looking at the features of diary writing. They’ve already had some brilliant thoughts about how to make a diary sound personal and engaging.

Maths – In maths, we have been continuing our work on place value and partitioning numbers up to 10,000.

Science – We have been learning how sound is made and building up our scientific vocabulary. Ask your child to explain how vibrations help us to hear – they should be able to tell you!

History – The children enjoyed exploring the legend of how Rome was founded, and we had some great discussions about what is fact and what is myth.

Art – We experimented with different art materials this week – graphite pencils, charcoal, colouring pencils and pastels. The children practised blending and created some lovely pictures of nature.

We’re looking forward to another great week ahead.
