Week 5 & 6
A Busy Fortnight in Hawks: Plays, Poetry, Romans and More!
What a Fantastic Two Weeks in Hawks!
What an exciting and action-packed fortnight it has been in Hawks Class! A huge well done to all of our wonderful Hawks, who were absolute superstars in their Christmas play. Their confidence, enthusiasm and teamwork shone through—we hope you enjoyed performing just as much as we enjoyed watching.
We have now wrapped up our Romans topic, bringing all our learning together to explore how the Roman Empire impacted Great Britain. The children showed brilliant recall and curiosity as we pieced together everything we’ve discovered this term.
English: we continued diving into poetry, building imaginative ideas about dragons. We explored similes, rhyming schemes and rhetorical questions, and today we proudly created the first stanza of our very own dragon poem.
Maths: lessons have been full of determination as we pushed through our times tables, finishing all the way up to the 12s—great effort, Hawks!
Design Technology: we began our new topic on pavilions. We looked closely at structure and stability, discussing how to improve our designs. The children then had a go at making their own miniature pavilion models using modelling clay and toothpicks—lots of creative experimenting (and a little clay-covered fun!) happened in the classroom today.
French, we challenged ourselves to count all the way up to 35. There was plenty of repetition, teamwork and even a bit of maths—in French! A fantastic learning experience for everyone.
