Autumn 2 Week 1
Welcome back!
I hope you all had a wonderful half-term. It was lovely to see all the children again and hear about all the things they got up to.
In maths, we have started to add numbers together using the column method. First we added two 2-digit numbers together, then started to add 2 three-digit numbers together. We will continue this next week.
In English, we have been learning about prepositions and writing this in sentences to create prepositional phrases. We then moved on to learn about co-ordinating conjunctions. These lessons are all linked to our class book: How to Train a Dragon.
We have started our new topic in science to answer our Big Question - How do we see things? This week we explored what a light source is and the difference between natural and artificial light sources. I asked the children to see how many light sources they have at home.
In History, we have been learning how the Romans impacted our language and how it is still used today.
This term PE is on Tuesdays (Yoga) and Wednesdays (Hockey).
We have started learning the songs for our Christmas Production on 9th Decemeber which is very exciting!
Next week is anti-bullying week and we will be doing lots of activities around this. It is also Odd Socks Day on Monday, so children are encouraged to wear odd socks.
On Friday it is Children in Need and children are welcome to come to school wearing their favourite sports kit.
Please continue to read 5x a week and practice times tables.
Please can children bring a coat in every day.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Miss Boddy :)
