Summer 1 Week 2
We’ve had another fantastic week in Year 3.
The children have continued to work hard, show great enthusiasm and build on all their learning from last week.
In Maths, we continued our work on mass. The children compared the mass of different objects and practised adding and subtracting grams. They are becoming much more confident with reading scales accurately.
In English, we explored similes and expanded noun phrases with prepositional phrases to help us describe our characters and settings in more detail. The children created some brilliant descriptive sentences and enjoyed using their imagination.
This week in History, we learnt why the Anglo-Saxons came to Britain. As historians, the children looked carefully at different clues and evidence to work out the reasons people chose to settle here. They asked thoughtful questions and made great connections to last week’s learning.
We started our new Science topic on plants. The children learnt the four main parts of a plant and what each part’s job is. They enjoyed drawing their own diagram to help them understand how plants grow and survive.
On Wednesday, we celebrated World Earth Day.
The children watched a live lesson on BBC Teach all about how we can help protect our planet. They discussed ways we can make a difference at school, and each class created different coloured leaves with their ideas. These leaves will form a beautiful rainbow over the world on our whole‑school display.
On Friday afternoon we enjoyed watching the Year 2 class assembly and hearing all about their learning.
