Summer 2 Week 3

We’ve had a fantastic week in Year 3. The children have worked hard across all subjects and ended the week with lots of smiles and colour!

In Maths, we continued our learning on time. The children explored a.m. and p.m., practised identifying days in a week, months in a year, and began thinking about how calendars help us organise events. This is a tricky topic, but they showed brilliant perseverance.

In English, the children completed their Hot Write, creating their own ending to The Iron Man. They worked incredibly hard to use their narrative they have learnt, as well as descriptive language, clear structure and imaginative ideas.

In History, we looked at the impact Alfred the Great had on Britain. The children explored how he improved laws, encouraged learning, and strengthened defences to protect his kingdom. They enjoyed discussing why he is the only king in history to be called “Great”.

Our R&W learning focused on Brahman. The children explored the idea that Brahman is like salt dissolved in water — present everywhere even when you can’t see him. They also learnt how Brahman is represented through different deities, before designing their own deity to represent an important value.

In Music, the children continued learning about Jazz. They had great fun experimenting with rhythm and playing a short tune on the piano app on the iPads.

We ended the week with the Colour run event, which was a huge hit. The children loved getting colourful and cooling down afterwards with a well‑earned ice lolly.

Star of the week

Ospreys Star of the Week is Freddie. Well done Freddie!
