Autumn 1 Week 6

A fantastic week celebrating Harvest.

I am so proud of Ospreys and how confidently they took part in the Harvest Service on Thursday afternoon. The children all worked hard to make pictures and learn the songs. Thank you for coming and supporting them. Also, a big thank you for all the food donations that you have provided for the food bank.

We have had a busy week in class.

In English, we have been learning about adverbs and how this can enhance our writing. We used these new skills to write amazing sentences about fireworks.

In Maths, we have been learning how to add multiple 1s and 10s to a 3-digit number. We have been focusing on exchanging 1s and 10s using place value and counters.

In Science, we had fun learning if forces need contact to work. The children had to investigate if a paperclip could float without the magnet touching it. Ask the children what happened and why.

In R&W we have been exploring what happened to Adam and Eve and why this is called The Fall. We also read the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments. The children were asked to write their own commandments.

On Friday we celebrated Hello Yellow day. It was lovely to see lots of yellow in the classroom. We talked about how important it is to look after our brains to keep them healthy and to think about our feelings. We made an Identity Constellation to remind ourselves how amazing we all are.

Star of the week is Grace. Grace has been working hard to contribute in all her lessons. Well done Grace!

Please continue to read 5x a week and record in their reading record. This needs to be brought into school every day so that the children can be included in the raffle to have a chance of winning a prize if they read 5 times every week. Please also practice spellings and TTRS.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Boddy :)
