Term 1, week 2! 12.09.25

First full week in year 2 complete!

Kestrels have really immersed themselves in the book 'Where the wild things are' in English this week. We have created a story map to retell the story and thought about the structure of opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending. We also created freeze frames for different parts of the story and hot seated Max and The Wild Things.

In maths, we have been partitioning 2-digit numbers into 10s and 1s. We have used place value charts and base 10 to help us with this before moving onto showing this in part part whole models.

We started our music unit on Call and Response this week. To start with, we looked at what dynamics means in music. We learnt that this means volume and creating music that is loud or quiet. We listened to different safari animal noises and then used instruments to try and create the animal noises trying to incorporate dynamics.

Star of the Week is….

Daisy! For always modelling our school values and promises to her peers.
