Term 3, Week 1! 09.01.26
Happy new year! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break.
We started the week by looking at Epiphany and the visit of the Wise men in our school worship. Ask your children what Epiphany means and who had an epiphany in our bible story. We carried this learning into our class worship and then thought about setting goals for the new year.
In English, we explored the text Once Upon a Raindrop. We realised it is a poem and looked at what features we could find. We then worked on our performance skills and performed a poem, making sure we used everything in our checklist for a good performance.
We have continued focusing on multiplication and division in maths. We learnt grouping and sharing methods for division. Then we focused on understanding the 2 times table and made links with the multiplication and division facts.
The children loved learning about Monet in art this week and how we painted what he saw outside. So we wrapped up warm and went outside to sketch what we could see. The children made amazing sketches of the playground/field/trees.
In music, we learnt a traditional folk song. We learnt 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean' and focused on how the pitch changes throughout the song.
We started our science unit on animals by learning what animals and humans need to survive. We know there are lots of things we like at home, but what do we actually need to survive? We learnt that animals and humans need air, water, food and shelter to survive.
Star of the Week is….
Blake. For persevering with his learning and improving his phonics and maths.
