Term 6, Week 1! 05.06.26

Welcome back for the last term of the school year!

In English, we have started our whole-school writing project using the trailer for 'The Wild Robot' as inspiration. The children have enjoyed exploring the story and have written detailed character descriptions and setting descriptions. We have also been practising using the past progressive tense in our writing.

In Maths, we have been learning about movement and turns. The children loved giving instructions to their partners and guiding them around the classroom using directional language. It was a fun way to develop our understanding of position and movement.

In Music, we have been exploring pitch. We learnt a new song, carefully listened to, followed the different pitch patterns, and we played the pitch patterns on the glockenspiels!

In History, we learnt about the Commonwealth. We discovered which countries are members of the Commonwealth and discussed its purpose and the ways member countries work together.

To start our new unit in Science, we explored 'What do animals need in order to survive?' We gave instructions to an alien who wanted a human as a pet to make sure they looked after them properly! Animals, including humans, need air, water, food and shelter to survive.

Star of the Week:

Rufus for a great setting description in English!
