Summer 2, week 2
We began our week diving into the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children absolutely loved learning the story through storytelling and actions, bringing the characters and key events to life with their expressive movements and voices.
Our creative area was buzzing with imagination as we worked on mixed media castle and beanstalk pictures. The children used a variety of materials to build textured and colourful masterpieces.
In maths, we’ve been busy investigating grouping and exploring even and odd sharing. Through practical activities and hands-on learning, the children began to understand these important number concepts and enjoyed the challenge of working collaboratively to solve problems.
In phonics, we focused on the digraph ‘ck’, spotting it in words, practising our writing, and using it in our own sentences. It’s been amazing to see the children applying their phonics knowledge so confidently!
A huge highlight of our week was our very first Forest School session with Mr. Summers. The children were thrilled to explore the outdoors, and the session ended on a high note with everyone toasting marshmallows!
To top it all off, we had a wonderful school trip to Weston-super-Mare. The Owls class were beautifully behaved and represented our school with pride. We enjoyed a delicious snack on the pier, and there was so much excitement as we ate our lunch on the beach, soaking up the seaside atmosphere.
Well done, Owls! What a fantastic week full of learning, laughter, and lovely memories.
Have a lovely weekend
