Autumn 2, week 3

This week we have been learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Light. The children explored a variety of Diwali objects and enjoyed watching a video and listening to a story that helped us understand how Diwali is celebrated.

On our welly walk, we created our very own rangoli patterns using chalk and natural materials such as leaves. The children worked so creatively and proudly shared their colourful designs.

One of our favourite activities was tasting Diwali food. We tried samosas, popadoms, onion bhajis and mango chutney. The children used fantastic adjectives in their writing to describe the food, including crispy, spicy, soft and sweet.

In Maths, we have been representing the numbers 6, 7 and 8 using a variety of resources such as tens frames, cubes and Numicon. The children worked hard to count carefully and show the numbers in different ways.

In RE, we listened to the Christmas story. The children loved hot-seating the characters, asking thoughtful and imaginative questions. Owls asked some absolutely fantastic questions!

A huge well done to our Star of the Week, Ariadne. She has been fantastic at tidying up and has been sharing beautifully. We are very proud of her!

Have a lovely weekend
