Summer 1, week 1

This week in Reception, we have had a very exciting start to our new topic, New Life! To bring our learning to life, we went on a special “life hunt” during our welly walk. The children loved exploring the outdoors and were fantastic at spotting signs of spring. We found budding plants, fresh green leaves, and even some living creatures.

In Sounds Write, we have been learning about the “ch” sound. The children have been practising recognising, reading, and writing words with this sound, and we are so pleased with their growing confidence.

In Maths, we have been focusing on numbers 11–20. The children have been using Numicon to build these numbers and have started writing the matching number sentences. They have shown great enthusiasm and are beginning to develop a deeper understanding of how numbers are formed.

In RE, we listened to the story The Boy Who Cried Wolf. The children enjoyed discussing the story and thinking about its meaning. We talked about the importance of telling the truth and how our actions can affect others.

A big well done to our Star of the Week, Clemmie! She has been working incredibly hard on her reading and always shows such enthusiasm when picking up a book.

Have a lovely weekend
