Summer Term 1 Weeks 4, 5 and 6
Challah bread, Forest School and teamwork!
Over the last few weeks of school, Falcons have been investigating mass and different ways to measure objects. As a class, we completed a table where we had to find out how many cubes each object would weigh. We were surprised at how many cubes we needed to weigh our shoes!!
We have also started our multiplication and division unit! To start this off, we have been thinking about how to group and share. This helped us when we started to think about our number sentences that included multiplication and division.
In computing, this term we have been learning how to write digitally! This meant we had to learn how to use the keyboards on the chromebooks. The children enjoyed experimenting by typing on word documents. We learn how to change the colour and size as well as how to make a letter a capital and how to backspace.
In Geography, we are still learning about our oceans. We have been learning where the different oceans in the world are and what makes them different. The children used iPads to search for sea life from different oceans and wrote about what animal they would be and which ocean they belong to.
We have loved our Forest School sessions with Mr Summers. A highlight is when the children had to build their own dens in groups. This tested team work, but every group got there in the end!
To help us understand Jewish life through our RE topic, we learnt all about Shabbat and how this is a holy time for Jews. We found out that during this time they eat Challah bread as a tradition. Therefore, as a class we made some Challah bread together. We had to work together to distribute the preparation as well as learn how to follow a recipe. It was very tasty!
Well done on our first half of the term Falcons!
