Spring Term 2 Week 3

Lots of Science learning and Easter poem writing!

This week in Year 1, we have enjoyed learning all about animal and human skeletons. We had a go at matching different skeletons to the correct animals and were amazed by how different they looked. The children also created fantastic skeleton pictures using straws and even drew huge animal skeletons outside using chalk and natural materials such as sticks. These were amazing!

In English, we have been exploring acrostic poems. Together we wrote a class poem, and everyone also created their own Easter acrostic poems. The children worked very hard on these and they will be shared during our Easter service.

In PE, we have been practising new ball skills and learning how to work well with a partner. The children showed great teamwork and encouragement towards each other.

In Maths, we have been learning about measurement. We had lots of fun comparing the lengths of different objects and even measuring and comparing each other’s heights in class.

During Computing, we explored how to use a keyboard. The children practised typing their names and experimented with changing the colour and size of their text. It was a little tricky at first, but with more practice it will become easier.

In DT this week, we practised our cutting and juicing skills. The children learnt how to hold a knife properly and different ways to cut fruits. They juiced a variety of fruits and got to taste them too!

We hope you enjoyed our 'Guess the Mummy' display! The children enjoyed making their unique picture to suprise you with!

Last week we also had so much fun celebrating World Book Week. It was wonderful to see the amazing effort that went into the children’s “Book in a Box” creations. We also loved decorating our classroom door with the theme We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

Thank you for another great week, Falcons!
