Summer Term 2 Week 1
Planting sunflowers and ambitious vocabulary!
We have had a fantastic first week back after half term and have been busy with lots of exciting learning!
English
In English, we started our new unit based on The Wild Robot. We watched the trailer and worked together to create a word bank of adjectives to describe different parts of what we saw. I was incredibly impressed by the ambitious vocabulary the children suggested. We thought carefully about how different scenes, characters and settings could be described, and everyone contributed some wonderful ideas.

Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about division by sharing into equal groups. We practised sharing objects fairly and used our understanding answering division questions. The children worked hard to explain their thinking and show how they knew their groups were equal.
Science
Our Science lesson was very exciting this week as we planted our own sunflower seeds! We discussed what plants need in order to grow and stay healthy, including water, sunlight, air and nutrients from the soil. We are looking forward to observing our sunflowers over the coming weeks and seeing how much they grow.

Computing
In Computing, we continued developing our programming skills using ScratchJr. We planned our final project by designing backgrounds and creating rockets ready for a race. We also wrote algorithms for each rocket, thinking carefully about the instructions needed to make them move. We can't wait to bring our designs to life next week.

Phonics
We have been working hard to prepare for next week's Phonics Screening Check by revising all of the phonics sounds we have learned this year. The children have shown great determination and enthusiasm, and we have enjoyed making our learning fun through a variety of phonics games and activities.
Thank you for a great first week back Falcons!
Have a lovely weekend.
