Autumn Term 1 Week 1&2
Welcome back to Falcons!
It has been so lovely to welcome our new Falcons children back to school over the last two weeks. We have had a fantastic start to the year, and it has been wonderful to see everyone again! The children have been busy settling into our new routines and getting to know all the different areas in our classroom.
We have enjoyed exploring our continuous provision, including the construction area, investigation area, home corner, funky fingers and message centre. The children have been busy playing, exploring and showing us what they already know. We have also had lots of fun playing outside whenever the weather has allowed us to!

In Maths, we have begun our learning by sorting objects in different ways and practising our counting skills. We have also started exploring addition and have been finding different ways to add numbers together up to 10.
Our Drawing Club sessions have been lots of fun! We have been exploring the trailer for Up and have enjoyed thinking about Carl's incredible adventure. The children have used their imaginations to create some wonderful ideas and have begun writing about the adventure Carl goes on.
Last week, we made our very own special handwriting wands, which we can't wait to use to help us with our writing!

In Science, we have started our new topic on materials, beginning to explore different materials and thinking about their properties. In Geography, we have started thinking about where our classroom is and had a go at drawing what our classroom might look like from an aerial view.
We have had such a positive start to Year 1 and I am so proud of how well the children have settled into their new routines.
I am looking forward to lots more fun and learning next week!
