Autumn Term 1 Week 5

Harvest art and prayers!

This week, we loved exploring the different areas of our classroom during challenge time. The children have been busy creating their own beasts using play dough and describing their features, building and designing villages, labelling beasts and practising their handwriting in our Funky Fingers area. It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident and independent in their learning.

In maths, we have been exploring part-part-whole models and using these alongside number lines to help us add numbers within 10. In phonics, we began learning our first Extended Code sound, /ae/, and discovered the different ways we can spell this one sound.

We finished our Billy and the Beast Drawing Club unit by inventing imaginative ways for Billy to fly over the Beast, as well as writing about how the Beast might be distracted. The children came up with some fantastic ideas and enjoyed putting their creativity into their drawings and writing.

In computing, we have been developing our mouse skills by learning how to use the trackpads on our Chromebooks. The children have been practising how to move the cursor and use the trackpad carefully and confidently.

We have also loved getting creative with our Harvest artwork, which we are very excited to share with you next week, alongside the Harvest prayer we wrote together as a class. It has been another lovely week full of creativity, exploration and learning!

Well done on another busy week Falcons!
