Spring Term 2 Week 3

World Book Week!

Kestrels have had a fabulous week, filled with lots of activities exploring different books!

To start off the week, we had lots of lovely adults come and watch us learn! The children got to show their adults around the classroom and the way they learn!

Throughout the week, the children explored the book Ivy and the lonely raincloud. We read through the story and discussed how we could add another character! Kestrels then made their own character profiles for the character they think would be a good addition to the story! Next week we will be re-telling the story along with our new characters!

Every class decorated their door! Each door was based around a different book, but it was a secret to the rest of the school! Kestrels door was based on the book Rumble in the jungle! The children all helped by creating their own animal to go on the door. They planned their design first and then used this to create their final piece! They all looked great! We also enjoyed going around and looking at all the other amazing decorations!

The children also brought in their favourite books to share with the rest of the class on World Book Day! We sat in a circle and shared our books and spoke about why they were our favourite! It was great to see such enthusiasm! The children also got a chance to read their books with others - we got to read lots of new books we might not have heard before too!

It was great to see the fantastic hats the children had made too! The children enjoyed guessing which book each hat represented!

In PE this week, Kestrels have been practising their rolling skills. They worked with a partner to practise rolling a ball over different distances and at different paces!

Star of the week: Oscar! Oscar has been a kind friend and looks out for people at all times. Well done Oscar!

Reminder that spellings should be practised 5 times a week as well as reading!

Have a lovely weekend!
