Spring Term 2 Week 6

A visit to an Arctic climate and fruit salads!

We have had a busy last few days in Kestrels before the Easter holidays!

On Monday, the children experienced a hot air balloon ride to visit an Arctic climate! We emersed ourselves in the climate by trying on different clothing that we would wear, using our senses to describe how it makes us feel, we even got a drink of hot chocolate to warm us up! The children loved this and were able to describe in detail how an arctic climate affects us. We even got to compare with falcons who visited a Saharan climate. The children noticed the differences and how the weather can affect us differently.

In DT, the children planned and made their own fruit salads! This included skills such as slicing, peeling and eating!!

After that, the children were able to write detailed instructions on how to make their fruit salad. Using prior knowledge of how to write instructions and relating it to their experience of making the fruit salad themselves!

Please make sure your children keep reading over the Easter break!

I hope you all have a lovely time. See you for summer term!
