Autumn 1 Week 6

Mental Health awareness week ...

We started off the week again with PE and our hockey session with Mr Peters. We have had a great time with hockey this term and are really developing our game skills now.

In English this week we have been focusing on our grammar and how to use commas Tina  list, capital letters, full stops and different sentence types. We learnt about statements, questions, commands and exclamations!

In Maths, we have continued to focus on our subtracting and have been using partitioning to do so. We also used lots of resources to help us understand that when we subtract we take away and the numbers get smaller. We have been subtracting 2 digit numbers which we found exciting.

In RE we wrote some harvest prayers that we shared via Teams during our harvest assembly. We enjoyed reading some of our prayers to the school and singing our KS1 harvest songs.

Science was great this week. We got to plan our very own science experiment that we will be completing next week. We have decided to investigate which material would be best to make the Queen's hat out of. We will let you know about our scientific findings!

This Friday was Mental Health Awareness day. We focused on celebrating the good things and understanding that it's ok to feel sad or worried and that we have ways to help us in those times. We all wore bright colours and completed some activities to share what we think is wonderful about ourselves.

Historian of the week:

This week we also had historian of the week. Our Historian of the week is Maximus! Maximus has shown his great research skills at home by exploring more about the Queen and the royal family. He even donated his research materials to our class. Thanks Max and well done!

Star of the week:

This week's star of the week is ... George! George has had a super week as always and has displayed enthusiasm and focus within his learning and is always ready within class.  Well done George!
